Open at the back, gathered onto one shoulder
Seen from behind, this midi makes its case immediately: the back is left open and the asymmetric cut takes everything across to one shoulder on a single thin strap. From the front it is much quieter, which is the balance you want when you are a guest at someone else's wedding rather than the reason everyone is there.
The fabric is soft and lightweight and it breathes, so it holds up across a summer event that starts in daylight and finishes late. A slit at the side gives you room to walk, climb into a car and get across a lawn without managing your hem the whole time.
